Protecting the areas within the white lines from bottom trawling would significantly reduce the bycatch of cold water corals.
Living Oceans has identified "hot spots" where the most deep sea corals were uprooted by bottom trawling between 1996-2002. Setting these areas aside would significantly reduce the bycatch of corals.
